    I wonder if they feel the same way about people that are half black? I’m thinking it wouldn’t matter but u better not call some half black people black. Some think it’s something speacial about them when they are half this and half that. Ask the racists of the world to them they are nothing speacial.

    @t04051 and Really Random Name:

    You are Derailing.

    That is not the point. We are not talking about white women. We are talking about Black women and the fact that there are very real and very harmful ideas out there about the beauty or lack thereof of Black women being perpetuated by small minded men of all races.

    @ Suga

    Re. your response to really random,

    you are old and intelligent enough to know that “there are harmful ideas out there” about EVERYTHING don’t let a bunch of college kids tell you how to feel about yourself. There are about 3 or 4 billion men on the planet, if you are going to let the opinions of about 3 or 10 million of these men be a factor in your happiness and self esteem, then the problem is with you and not society.

    “When you hold a hammer in your hand, everything looks like a nail” – some guy (or gal).

    @Saz:

    I never said the opinions of college kids affected how I felt about myself.

    I’m pointing out that racism is very real in the every day lives of people like you and me, and us pretending that it doesn’t exist or that it’s not that serious isn’t going to help matters at all.

    Yes, there are billions of men in the world and that’s great, but at the same time, no one human woman ever gets to meet all the billions of men in the world, which is why it is extremely important to ensure that the ones that we DO meet and interact with on a regular basis are free from stupid racist ideas that make all our lives difficult.

    well duh…racism is everywhere but you act like black women are the only victims of racism.

    We only racism exists but you keep harping and harping about how bad black women get it. at some point, your soap box might get bored too.

    I know it’s your blog and all but imjussayin

    @ Everyone – While there is absolutely NO DOUBT about my beauty in my mind and I am sure Sugabelly does not suffer from low self esteem. A young black girl might have to interact with such ignorance and she might not be as strong as we all are.
    @Nosa – Sugabelly is a black girl and it will affect her acutely when she reads racist stuff about black women. Much like a Jew would be affected by a antisemit rant and not neccessarily by a “mandingo: comment.

    Whoa. I am dating a white and he thinks I am the best thing since sliced bread. I feel it is just a preference thing. Some men asian chicks, others like black, some like white. But I agree it is harmful for a moron to say, ‘nobody likes black chicks’ what was that guy smoking anyway?
